Home Student Resources Support Services Falcon Cares Program

FLC CaresFLC students face various challenges ranging from food insecurity to homelessness. These stressors have grown exponentially due to the current COVID-19 virus that has effected our region and the entire world. The Falcon Cares program supports students in the areas below, and also allows us to respond to the area of greatest need. Due to the current uncertainty facing our students, this fund gives the college the flexibility to respond to additional areas including shelter, clothing, and technology.

Our Services

Food for Falcons

FLC provides several areas on campus where students can access perishable and non-perishable food. During this crisis, we will move to supplying grocery and gas gift cards to students in need. This is an ideal way to alleviate food insecurity, at a time when maintaining health and wellness is critical.

Textbook/Supply Voucher

The Textbook/Supply Voucher provides FLC students an opportunity to request additional financial assistance to obtain textbooks and/or course-adopted supplies for required coursework. Students can receive $250 a year up to 2 years. Processing will be completed within 3-5 business days.

Requirements

  • Good academic standing with Folsom Lake College.
  • If you are receiving services from other support programs, students are encouraged to seek assistance from the programs prior to submitting this application.
  • Textbook/Supply voucher funds are not designed to replace financial aid. Students who are receiving financial aid should utilize those funds prior to submitting this application.
  • Textbook/Supply voucher funds cannot be used for office supplies, only supplies required for coursework listed in the syllabus.

Gowns for Grads

The FLC Alumni Association and Philanthropy Office have created the Gowns for Grads program to support students in need with free access to graduation caps and gowns. Caps and gowns are provided by the generosity of donors and recent FLC graduates; availability may be limited.

Housing Assistance

Many students experience homelessness or unsafe housing conditions. We offer a short-term hotel voucher system to help students secure long-term housing.
