Folsom Lake College Counseling Department is meeting with students in person on the FLC Main campus, El Dorado Center, Rancho Cordova Center; and remotely via Zoom or phone.
In Person Drop In Counseling
Limited in person drop in Counseling is available Tuesday through Thursday on the FLC Main Campus based on Counselor’s schedule.
Call the Counseling Department at (916) 608-6510 prior to coming on campus to determine counselor availability.
*Students must be term active at FLC and have completed all college coursework within Los Rios. Students with external transcripts should make a one hour counseling appointment.
What Do You Need?
- Student ID number
- A picture ID (ex. Driver’s License, Passport, School ID)
Drop In Counseling
Regular Online Drop In Times:
Tuesday and Thursday: 12:30 to 4:15 pm
Friday: 9:00 to 11:45 am
NOTE: If the meeting is locked due to a high volume of students, attend another drop in session or call Counseling at (916) 608-6510 for assistance.
What Do You Need?
- Be ready to connect to audio immediately upon admission
- Student ID number
- A picture ID (ex. Driver’s License, Passport, School ID)
What kind of students can be seen in drop in?
- Current ACTIVE at FLC
- New and returning students who have submitted applications more than 24 hours prior to attending.
What can be done in a 20 minute Drop In counseling session?
- One semester course selection
- Exceed Unit Petitions
- Priority 0.5 registration
- Other quick questions
What kind of students should schedule a 1 hour appointment?
- Students with transcripts from outside of Los Rios
- Students using veteran’s benefits
- Students wanting comprehensive education plans.
The Counseling Department provides prospective and current students with comprehensive academic, career, transfer, and personal counseling necessary to successfully reach their educational, career, and personal goals.
Whether you are a first-time student, returning student, or have been attending college for some time, you may encounter periods when your educational performance or personal equilibrium is challenged. You will find a variety of professional counseling services at the Main Folsom campus, El Dorado Center, and Rancho Cordova Center. Day or evening appointments can be made by calling our offices.
Counseling services include:
- Academic assistance with certificate/degree requirements, transfer requirements, and college selection preparation for an academic major course selection. See Preparing For Your Counseling Appointment.
- Career assessment of interests, abilities, and labor market information employment trends. We also provide re-entry resources for single parents and displaced homemakers.
- Crisis intervention, including conflict resolution, stress management, coping skills, and referrals to community resources.
- Short-term personal counseling assistance with personal, family, or work concerns as they relate to educational goals.
- Multicultural counseling in the context of cultural origins and values.
