Each semester we offer Open Lab opportunities so that students can do make-up lab work, get in some extra study time in preparation for lab practical examinations, or to increase their understanding of the subject. We aim to provide support for a wide range of disciplines such as Biology, chemistry, Geology and so on. Please note that due to safety protocols, students cannot do wet labs such as culturing microbes, viewing or dissecting preserved specimens or setting up chemical reactions. This program is intended for access to models, microscopes, computer programs or hands-on material that can be used safely. Also keep in mind that this is a program that is constantly evolving and at times the supportive material may be limited or not be available in the most updated form.
Discipline related models and other resources are available in the workshop area (FL6-101) of the Science Center Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Students may request access to the available resources by informing the Science Center staff.
Structured open lab sessions may be provided by faculty for their students, however the offering for these events are scheduled by the faculty, please contact your instructors for more information on such events. Faculty should contact our staff to schedule open-lab sessions or events to check for the availability of the space and resources.
