Prison and Reentry Education Program

The Prison and Reentry Education Program (PREP) at Folsom Lake College proudly supports college students in correctional facilities and upon their return to our community.

Folsom Lake Scholars at five correctional facilities participate in a variety of college degree programs including:

  • Communications Studies
  • Computer Information Science
  • English Writing
  • Human & Career Development
  • Small Business Entrepreneurship & Management
  • Social Work Human Services

Our correctional partners include:

  • Folsom Men's Prison
  • Folsom Women's Facility
  • Mule Creek State Prison
  • Sacramento Sheriff's Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center
  • Sacramento Youth Detention Facility

PREP is also committed to supporting our scholars throughout their transition process, focusing on reentry long before release. The Reemerging Scholars program at Folsom Lake College is part of the statewide Rising Scholars Network. Reemerging Scholars has a strong commitment to supporting formerly incarcerated students to reach their academic goals and transition back into our community.
