MOLIÈRE'S HILARIOUS "MISER" OPENS AT
AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE THEATRE APRIL 19!
Hilarious, insightful, and over-the-top fun, is it any surprise The Miser has been one of Molière's most beloved comedies for more than 350 years!? In this production, which runs April 19-28 at American River College, director Sam Williams brings out the wit and wisdom of this wonderful farce through audacious movement and whip-quick timing.
The plot of The Miser revolves around Harpagon, a wealthy old fellow who is so obsessed with money he can hardly see straight. Thus, he pays no attention to his love-sick children Elise and Cléante... until he learns their love interests are both penniless! In his desperate attempts to marry them wealthily (to increase his own coffers), he fails to notice that they are cleverly conspiring behind his back to marry their chosen sweethearts. But will they succeed? Come see for yourself and enjoy a night of silly romance, hilarious high jinks, and a comic age-old battle of love and money that has brought audiences to their feet for centuries!
All performances of The Miser, including the April 26 performance which is ASL interpreted, will be at American River College's Mainstage Theatre, 4700 College Oak Drive, Sacramento. Parking is $2 and is located next to the theatre at the corner of College Oak and Myrtle. Tickets are $18/general, $15/student/senior, with group rates available.
