Folsom Lake College Library is committed to providing access to library materials and services for all students. Library staff members are available to assist library patrons whose disabilities limit their use of the Library's facilities and resources. For questions, suggestions, or to request services beyond those described, please contact Rebecca Mendell, Public Access Services Librarian, at mendelr@flc.losrios.edu or (916) 608-6708.
Patrons with disabilities requiring more extensive assistance or who routinely need additional help using the library may be referred to Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS) for better accommodation. Students may contact DSPS prior to visiting the library to arrange for the assistance necessary to make the most effective use of library resources.
Disabled Students Programs & Services can provide assistive technology use and instruction to qualified students.
Computers and study carrels on height adjustable tables are available in the Library near the Research Desk. Priority is given to disabled students. If the station is occupied by a non-disabled patron, please come to the Library Research Desk for assistance.
In the event of a Library evacuation, staff conducts a sweep of the entire building advising all patrons that an evacuation is in progress. Disabled students will be assisted, if necessary, to the nearest exit. Procedures concerning the proper evacuation of persons with disabilities are located in the Folsom Lake College Emergency Procedures Guide, available at the Library Research Desk.
The Library provides instructional handouts on various library services and instructional materials. Please contact Rebecca Mendell at mendelr@flc.losrios.edu or (916) 608-6708 for details on obtaining these materials in an alternate format.
If you require any special accommodation during a library instruction, please notify your instructor or James Telles at tellesj@flc.losrios.edu or (916) 608-6528 at least one week prior to the instruction you will be attending.
Folsom Lake College provides designated spaces for use by disabled persons who possess a valid DMV placard/license plate. A current validated DMV plate/placard must be properly displayed along with a Folsom Lake College semester or daily parking permit to park in the disabled parking spaces.
Library and Computer Lab staff can assist disabled patrons with the use of the copy and print stations. For special copy and print needs, please contact Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS).
