August 15, 2022
The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for FLC students and actors from the community to audition for its fall production of Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm (by appointment only) at the Harris Center for the Arts in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170). All skill levels are encouraged to audition.
About the Production
The Falcon's Eye opens its 16th season with Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic by Matt Cox. Puffs is a hilarious send-up of the story of the "boy wizard" told from the point of view of the enthusiastic and very silly Puffs. At first feeling like the "losers" of the school, through the power of friendship and loyalty, the Puffs find how very important they are. Come join the magic and avoid evil wizards with us!
Open Monologue Auditions: Sunday, August 28, 1:30 to 4:30 pm (by appointment only)
To schedule your audition appointment, please complete and submit this form.
Actors who have previously performed for Falcon's Eye should fill out the form to RSVP to attend callbacks on Tuesday, August 30.
Audition check-in will be in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) at the Harris Center for the Arts on the Main Folsom campus (view map).
What to Prepare
Monologue Auditions: Please prepare a 1-minute contemporary comedic monologue. Be ready to demonstrate a British accent if you want a role that requires one. The monologue must be memorized.
Auditioners are strongly encouraged to wear a mask while indoors on campus, except while performing their monologue.
Headshot and Resume: Please bring a resume and headshot (if you have one). You may email this ahead of time, if you prefer, to Jennifer Wallace at email@example.com.
Callback auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 30 by invitation only. Your callback time could be anytime between 6:30 and 9:30 pm. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that auditioners be familiar with the story of Puffs before auditioning.
Puffs contains several instances of “magical” violence and a few moments of intimacy enacted by the characters. The director of the play has a certificate in Intimacy Choreography and will thus be acting both as director and intimacy choreographer. Starred roles require intimate moments. Please contact Jennifer Wallace with any questions or to request to read the script in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Actors of all gender expressions, races, and abilities are encouraged and welcomed to audition.
Auditioners are strongly encouraged to wear a mask while indoors on campus. Those selected for casting MUST show proof of full vaccination. For more information, go to the Vaccine Requirement webpage.
