Mental Health Awareness Month

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health during this time. The Los Rios Colleges Health & Wellness staff would like to encourage all of our students, faculty, and staff to practice self-care in honor of the national observance of May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Join us for these upcoming activities/workshops:

  • Self-Care for Survivors workshop: Monday, May 4, 1:00-2:00pm, Zoom
  • Write Your Way to Wellness workshop: Wednesday, May 6, 12:00-1:30pm, Zoom. Pre-register to receive Zoom login information.
  • Movies for Mental Health: Thursday, May 7, 2:30-4:00pm, Zoom. Pre-register to receive Zoom login information.
  • Managing Anxiety workshop: Tuesday, May 12, 2:00-3:30pm, Zoom. Pre-register to receive Zoom login information.

You can also check out CampusWell, an online magazine covering a variety of student health topics, as well as Mindwise, an online screening tool for substance misuse, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more.

In addition, Folsom Lake College also has a new mental health resource available for students. Licensed psychologist Dr. Tameka Jackson is providing therapy services on Thursdays from 10:00am-6:00pm via phone or video. Call the Counseling office at (916) 608-6510 to make an appointment. In addition, Dr. Jackson will join the Equity Center for the weekly "Therapy Thursdays" from 3:00-4:00pm via Zoom. Join Equity Center Online to receive the participation link.
