May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May 1, 2022

Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health is an important part of your overall health. We would like to encourage all of our students, faculty, and staff to practice self-care and mental wellness in honor of the national observance of May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

Everyone deserves care and support and at Folsom Lake College we have many different resources available, including:

Student Resources

TimelyCare

TimelyCare provides 24/7 medical and mental telehealth care for all students as part of the Los Rios Health Services program. This service is funded by the Health Services Fee.

When you're feeling sick or overwhelmed, you can talk to a licensed provider from your smartphone or any web-enabled device for free. Our medical providers can diagnose common conditions (such as a cold, flu, or sinus infection) and the TalkNow service gives students a safe space to talk (for example, about anxiety surrounding COVID-19, relationship issues, or depression).

Download the TimelyCare App in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for "TimelyCare".

Campus Therapist

Dr. Tameka Jackson is available for short-term therapy appointments for FLC students (maximum 3 visits). To make an appointment with Dr. Jackson, call Counseling at (916) 608-6510, or email Dr. Jackson directly at tameka.jackson@losrios.edu. Dr. Jackson or Counseling will determine if this service is a good fit, and address any academic or basic concerns.

Los Rios Center for Mental Health and Wellness

The Center for Mental Health and Wellness provides a variety of services to all currently enrolled students, including individual and group therapy. Services are delivered by licensed therapists and trainees/interns who are supervised by licensed clinicians and are working towards becoming licensed themselves.

WEAVE Confidential Advocate

The WEAVE Confidential Advocate is available by phone for students or employees who have experienced any form of sexual harassment or violence and want support or information.
