Audition for "The Comedy of Errors" on Sept. 8

The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for FLC students and actors from the community to audition for its fall production of The Comedy of Errors on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 6:30-9:30pm via Zoom. All skill levels encouraged to audition.

This fall, Falcon’s Eye Theatre is presenting William Shakespeare’s hysterical farce about two sets of identical twins lost at sea, The Comedy of Errors. Join us for this live, virtual performance where we take audiences on a fast-paced comic journey outside the typical Zoom box! Actors won't be stuck in tiny individual Zoom boxes. Instead this wacky, Pop Art inspired landscape is collaged together with cutting-edge technology. Virtual admission will include an at-home "Performance Kit" that audience members use to participate in the interactive fun. These performances will be presented using Zoom Webinar.


Open monologue auditions will be conducted online via Zoom on Tuesday, September 8 from 6:30-9:30pm. Sign-up for an audition time. You will then be contacted to confirm your audition in the days leading up to auditions. 

Note: All auditioners will need to attend the open monologue session, regardless of whether they have performed in Falcon's Eye production in the past.


Auditions will be conducted entirely online via Zoom. You will need reliable access to high speed internet and a computer/tablet/phone that is capable of running Zoom (you can test your device at Your device will also need a functioning camera and microphone. At least seven days before the audition date, we will email you information about how the auditions will work on Zoom and a Zoom meeting link.

What to Prepare

You MUST prepare a monologue that is approximately 90 seconds long from any play. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and may be of any genre. The monologue must be memorized and will be performed online via a Zoom meeting.

It is requested that auditioners email a full-sized photo-headshot and resume of acting experience (if available) prior to the audition to:, but this is not required.

At least seven days before the audition date, we will email you information about how the auditions will work on Zoom and a Zoom meeting link.

Actors who are cast in the online production will need a relatively new computer with Google Chrome browser installed, access to reliable high speed internet, and reliable access to a secure private location to work remotely that is at least 10 feet square. Other gear and equipment for the online performance will be provided by Falcon's Eye.


Callback auditions will be entirely online via Zoom software. They will be held September 9-10, by invitation only. Your callback time could be anytime between 6:30-9:30pm. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that auditioners be familiar with the story of The Comedy of Errors before auditioning.

Rehearsal Dates

Rehearsals will be conducted entirely online from September 14 through October 28, 2020. Typically, rehearsals will be from 6:30–10:00pm Monday through Thursday. Additional rehearsals might include weekdays and/or weekend days/nights. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible. Be prepared to provide your complete calendar of availability at the first audition.

Tech/Dress Rehearsals are October 29 through November 5. You must be available on these dates. No conflicts allowed. School excusals are available for conflicts with classes.

Performance Dates

Performances are November 6-22, Friday and Sunday evenings (subject to change). Tickets coming soon.
