FLC students face various challenges ranging from food insecurity to homelessness. These stressors have grown exponentially due to the current COVID-19 virus that has effected our region and the entire world. The Falcon Cares program supports students in the areas below, and also allows us to respond to the area of greatest need. Due to the current uncertainty facing our students, this fund gives the college the flexibility to respond to additional areas including shelter, clothing, and technology.
Food for Falcons
FLC provides several areas on campus where students can access perishable and non-perishable food. During this crisis, we will move to supplying grocery and gas gift cards to students in need. This is an ideal way to alleviate food insecurity, at a time when maintaining health and wellness is critical.
FLC Textbook Scholarships
Our students must keep to their educational goal plan as much as possible. We can't let the cost of textbooks and supplies prevent them from continuing on their path to success. The textbook scholarship provides a $250 voucher to FLC’s bookstore to FLC students through a random textbook drawing during the fall and spring semesters.
Gowns for Grads
The FLC Alumni Association has created the Gowns for Grads program to support students with free access to graduation caps and gowns. Caps and gowns are provided by the generosity of donors and recent FLC graduates; availability may be limited.
This program is in development. Please check back frequently for updates on resources to assist FLC students to combat and overcome housing insecurity and homelessness.
Student Emergency Fund
The Los Rios Colleges Foundation Student Emergency Fund provides immediate financial assistance (usually within 24 hours) to students involved in catastrophic or unexpected emergency situations. We don't want life to get in the way of our student's progress towards a certificate or degree, and these one-time grants come with no repayment obligations. A student may receive a maximum of one student emergency fund grant of up to $500 during all combined enrollments at the Los Rios colleges. All awards are contingent upon the availability of limited funds, provided through generous donations.
Your donation will help FLC students face their toughest times. Please give to serve as a reminder that we believe in them and their future! You can make an immediate impact below:
