Starting a New Club

Step 1: Gather People

Students

Clubs need at least two students to charter the club (more students is preferred).The students must have a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in 5 units at Folsom Lake College (or 3 units if receiving support through DSPS).   

Advisor(s)

Clubs need at least one faculty advisor to sponsor and support your club. Faculty members at Folsom Lake College are professors, counselors, librarians, and program coordinators. 

Clubs can have additional co-advisors who are either faculty, classified professionals, or administrators. 

Step 2: Charter your Club

To begin the process for making your club official, complete the club charter. 

Once the charter is received, the Office of Student Life will provide your club access to the remaining documents need to make your club official, which include the Constitution Template, Budget Signature Form, and Club Contract Agreement.

Step 3: Complete the Club Documents

Constitution

Time to build your club! The constitution serves a space to record your club’s overall purpose and operating foundation

Budget Signature Form

Club presidents, treasurers, and advisors are required to complete the budget signature form to be allowed to use their club funds with the Business Services Office

Contracts 

The club presidents and advisors will need to complete the club contracts, which outlines the expectations, requirements, and responsibilities of serving as a president or advisor

Once The Forms are Completed

Forms will be presented to the Clubs and Events Board for approval.

Step 4: Register Club Officers

To be recognized by the Office of Student Life, please have your club officers complete the Officer Registration Form. 

Once completed, the student’s name will be forwarded to the club president and advisor for confirmation. 

After being confirmed, the club officers will be granted accessed to the Club Leadership Discord, Google Drive, and receive updates on upcoming club activities.
