The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for FLC students and actors from the community to audition for its fall production of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas on Tuesday, September 5, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm (by appointment only) at the Harris Center for the Arts in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170). All skill levels are encouraged to audition. And in keeping with Falcon’s Eye Theatre’s commitment to inclusion and diversity, roles will be filled using gender-diverse and culturally diverse casting.
About the Performances
Based on Jules Verne’s landmark works of science fiction, this adaptation by David Kersnar and Althos Low reveals the true history of Professor Morgan Aronnax’s adventures as a prisoner of Captain Nemo, master of the submersible war machine, Nautilus. The play chronicles the interwoven histories of Aronnax and Nemo—their clashes of will confronting monsters without and within—as they voyage beneath the world’s oceans to the unclaimed tundra of the South Pole. Join us for this action-packed nautical adventure!

What to Prepare
You must MAKE AN APPOINTMENT by visiting our website and requesting a reservation to audition. Please prepare a modern monologue approximately 90 seconds in length. It can be of any genre but must be from a play written for theatre. The monologue must be memorized. A resume and headshot are encouraged but not required. You may email a resume and headshot in advance to Jennifer Wallace at wallacj@flc.losrios.edu.
Call Back Auditions
Call back auditions are Wednesday, September 6, and Thursday, September 7 by invitation only. Your callback time could be anytime between 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that auditioners be familiar with the story of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas before auditioning.
Rehearsal Dates
Rehearsals will be from Monday, September 11 through Wednesday, October 25, 2023, usually Sundays through Thursdays. Rehearsal times might include weeknights and weekends. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible. Be prepared to provide your complete calendar of availability at the first audition. Tech/Dress Rehearsals are Thursday, October 26 through Thursday, November 2, 2023. You must be available on these dates; no conflicts are allowed.
Performance dates
Performances are Friday, November 3 through Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Harris Center for the Arts. The performance calendar will include Friday mornings, weekend days, and nights.
