Based on the results of the placement process and a student's educational goal, students may be placed into the following course pathways.
Business Math (BusMath)
Business, Economics, and Management Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- MATH 341: Calculus for Business and Economics1 (4 units) and MATHS 46: Support for Calculus for Business and Economics2 (3 units) – must be taken concurrently
- MATH 341: Calculus for Business and Economics1 (4 units)
- 1 AA/AS-applicable and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
- 2 Support course may be required based on placement results.
Education
Elementary Education Pathway
Enroll in the following:
- MATH 310: Mathematical Discovery3 (3 units)
- 3 AA/AS-applicable and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
Statistics and Liberal Arts Math (SLAM)
Liberal Arts Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- Option 1 – choose one of the following:
- Option 2 (not for majors that require Calculus) – choose one of the following:
- MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts (3 units) and MATHS 33: Support of College Algebra for Liberal Arts5 (2 units)
- MATH 333: College Algebra for Liberal Arts (3 units)
- 4 AA/AS-applicable and is transferable to CSU. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
- 5 Support course may be required based on placement results.
Statistics Pathway
Choose one of the following options:
- Option 1 – choose one of the following:
- Option 2 – choose one of the following:
- 6 AA/AS-applicable and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
STEM Pathway
STEM 1 Level
This option is for students who have not passed Intermediate Algebra, Integrated Math 3 (IM3), or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. You may take Calculus with support or up to two (2) courses before Calculus.
- You may choose to take two preparatory courses before Calculus:
- Recommended
- MATH 385 Calculus Preparation for STEM (4 units) followed by Math 375 Pre-Calculus (6 units)
- Note: Math 385 may be offered with corequisite support MATHS 85 Support for Calculus Preparation for STEM (2 units)
- Note: Math 375 may be offered with corequisite support MATHS 75 Support for Pre-Calculus (3 units)
- The other two course option would be to take MATH 372 and MATH 373 in either order:
- MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus8 (4 units)
- MATH 372: College Algebra for Calculus8 (4 units) and MATHS 70: Support for College Algebra for Calculus9 (3 units) – must be taken concurrently
- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus8 (4 units)
- MATH 373: Trigonometry for Calculus8 (4 units) and MATHS 73: Support for Trigonometry for Calculus9 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently

STEM 3 Level
This option is for students who have passed Intermediate Algebra, Integrated Math 3 (IM3), or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. You may take Calculus with support or one (1) course before Calculus.

- MATH 375: Pre-Calculus8 (6 units)
- MATH 375: Pre-Calculus8 (6 units) and MATHS 75: Support for Pre-Calculus (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- MATH 385: Calculus Preparation for STEM (4 units)
- MATH 385: Calculus Preparation for STEM (4 units) and MATHS 85: Support for Calculus Preparation for STEM (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
- Then:
- Choose one of the following options:
- If you choose to go straight to Calculus:
STEM 5 Level
This option is for students who have passed Pre-Calculus, Integrated Math 4 (IM4), Trigonometry, or the equivalent with a "C-" or better. Choose one of the following options:
- MATH 400: Calculus I10 (5 units)
- MATH 400: Calculus I10 (5 units)and MATHS 60: Support for Calculus I9 (3 units) – must be taken concurrently
Sequence of Final Four Courses in Calculus Pathway
- MATH 401: Analytic Geometry and Calculus II10 (5 units)
- MATH 402: Analytic Geometry and Calculus III10 (5 units)
- MATH 410: Intro to Linear Algebra10 (3 units)
- MATH 420: Differential Equations10 (4 units)
