Sequences for Transfer Students

Based on the results of the placement process and a student's educational goal, students may place into the following courses:

Course Sequence for Business, Economics, and Management Majors

Students who have not successfully completed IM3 or Algebra 2 in high school are required to take MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra prior to taking MATH 341 with or without support.

Depending on your placement, take one of the following:

  • MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra1 / 2 (3 units) and MATHS 33: Support for Introduction to College Algebra2 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra1 / 2 (3 units)

Next, depending on your placement, take one of the following:

  • MATH 341: Calculus for Business and Economics1 (4 units) and MATHS 46: Support for Calculus for Business and Economics2 (3 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • MATH 341: Calculus for Business and Economics1 (4 units)
  • 1 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
  • 2 Course may be required based on placement results.

Course Sequence for Elementary Education Majors

Students who have not successfully completed IM3 or Algebra 2 in high school are required to take MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra prior to taking MATH 310.

Depending on your placement, take one of the following:

  • MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra3 / 4 (3 units) and MATHS 33: Support for Introduction to College Algebra4 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • MATH 333: Introduction to College Algebra3 / 4 (3 units)

Next, enroll in the following:

  • MATH 310: Mathematical Discovery3 (3 units)
  • 3 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
  • 4 Course may be required based on placement results.

Course Sequence for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Majors

Choose one of the following options:

  • Option 1:
    • Depending on your placement, take one of the following:
      • MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas5 (3 units) and MATHS 95: Support for Introduction to Mathematical Ideas6 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
      • MATH 300: Introduction to Mathematical Ideas5 (3 units)
  • Option 2:
    • Depending on your placement, take one of the following:
      • STAT 300: Introduction to Probability and Statistics7 (4 units) and STAT 10: Support for Introduction to Probability and Statistics6 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
      • STAT 300: Introduction to Probability and Statistics7 (4 units)
  • Option 3:
    • Depending on your placement, take one of the following:
      • PSYC 330: Introductory Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences7 (3 units) and PSYC 10: Support for Introductory Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences6 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
      • PSYC 330: Introductory Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences7 (3 units)
  • 5 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
  • 6 Support course may be required based on placement results.
  • 7 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.

Course Sequence for STEM Majors

All STEM courses require IM3, Algebra 2, or MATH 333 (with or without MATHS 33, based on placement) prerequisites to be satisfied.

Depending on your placement, take one of the following:

  • MATH 335: Trigonometry for Calculus8 (5 units) and MATHS 55: Support for Trigonometry with College Algebra9 (2 units) – must be taken concurrently
  • MATH 335: Trigonometry for Calculus8 (5 units)

Next, take all of the following:

  1. MATH 370: Pre-Calculus Math10 (5 units)
  2. MATH 400: Analytic Geometry and Calculus I10 (5 units)
  3. MATH 401: Analytic Geometry and Calculus II10 (5 units)

Lastly, take one of the following:

  • MATH 402: Analytic Geometry and Calculus III10 (5 units)
  • MATH 410: Intro to Linear Algebra10 (3 units)
  • MATH 420: Differential Equations10 (4 units)
  • 8 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
  • 9 Support course may be required based on placement results.
  • 10 AA/AS applicable, satisfies AA/AS competency, and is transferable to CSU/UC. Speak with a counselor for transfer information.
