Roberts Family Development Center
Recorded on November 5, 2024. Roberts Family Development Center (RFDC) was established in 2001 to support youth and families in the North Sacramento communities. They provide high-quality academic enrichment and family support and ensure that scholars in under-resourced neighborhoods can access educational tools and guidance. RFDC seeks passionate and dedicated tutors to work with their scholars, providing essential academic assistance in a welcoming and culturally responsive environment.
They encourage students from various academic backgrounds to apply, with a particular focus on majors such as mathematics, English, the sciences, history, education, social work, psychology, African American studies, and ethnic studies. Your subject matter expertise and dedication will make a difference in the lives of young students facing educational inequities.
Tutors in our program will not only gain hands-on experience in their field of study but will also be part of a larger mission to close opportunity gaps and uplift underserved communities. Their programs offer Los Rios students the chance to develop practical skills while making a lasting impact on a young person.

In this Internship Info Session with Sacramento State's Institute for Social Research, students learned about the work that the Institute completes for the CA Dept. of Public Health’s Tobacco Control Branch, including the how and why.
