Important Notice: This webpage provides information about the Advanced Imaging Programs for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT). It is intended for students who already hold a Radiologic Technology certification.
Folsom Lake is currently developing a Radiologic Technology Program, with an informational website in progress. The formal program is expected to launch in Fall 2026. Please check back in Summer 2025 for the informational website, which will include details on prerequisites, frequently asked questions, etc.
Program Redesigns for 2025/2026
The structure of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) programs has been redesigned to reduce the overall duration for students. Under the new format, students will complete their didactic coursework alongside their clinical rotations, allowing for a more integrated learning experience. They can expect to spend two-three days per week at their clinical site, actively engaging in hands-on training.
Applications for the MRI and CT programs are accepted from June 1st to October 1st each year, in the months preceding the program start date. The MRI program is available in even-numbered years, while the CT program is offered in odd-numbered years.
The MRI and CT programs begin each Spring semester and are expected to conclude in mid-late Summer. Didactic courses are fully online and asynchronous. However, clinical rotations require in-person attendance at a designated clinical site. Students who can secure a clinical site through their employer will bypass the random lottery process for admission. Those unable to provide a clinical site will be entered into a random lottery conducted by a third party, contingent upon the number of available clinical sites within the program. Selected students will then be assigned to their clinical rotation sites by the college.
Please note that the school does not guarantee acceptance into the program, nor placement at a facility. Please Read our non-discrimination policy.
To participate in the program all students must also attend a mandatory orientation where the following requirements will be discussed:
- Completing a background check, drug screen, and proof of immunizations at their own expense.
- Paying for malpractice provided by the college.
- CPR-Basic Life Support training
- Completing various training modules required by the clinical rotation sites.
- Other facility-specific entry requirements.
To apply to the CT/MRI Program, please fill out the online application (below) and be prepared to upload a digital version of your radiologic technologist certificate.
