Welcome to
Folsom Lake College!

As the college's president, I am honored to serve such an outstanding institution.

Folsom Lake College received its initial accreditation in 2004 and quickly emerged as a growing, vibrant, and dynamic educational institution. It is closely tied to its local communities and draws students from surrounding areas in Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Placerville, and Rancho Cordova, as well as visitors from throughout the region to the Harris Center for the Arts.

The college serves students seeking to transfer to four-year universities, train for the workforce, earn an associate degree or certificate, or improve foundational skills. Our faculty and staff care deeply about teaching and learning and are committed to academic excellence and ensuring students achieve their educational goals.

I encourage you to visit one of our beautiful campuses and experience firsthand what we have to offer. Take a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities, attend a show at the Harris Center, or show your Falcon pride by supporting one of our athletic teams. You'll quickly see our commitment to inspiring excellence, championing equity, and empowering students.

Welcome to Folsom Lake College!

About Dr. Art Pimentel

Dr. Art Pimentel assumed the role of President at Folsom Lake College in January 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience in higher education spanning over 19 years. His diverse skill set encompasses leadership in student and instructional services, fiscal management, marketing and community outreach, enrollment management, facilities management, government relations, and institutional and strategic planning. Immediately prior to joining Folsom Lake College, Pimentel served as President of Woodland Community College. Returning to the Los Rios Community College District, where he previously held positions as Dean of Sacramento City College's West Sacramento Center and Interim Director of Educational Services and Student Success, Dr. Pimentel has made significant strides in advancing Folsom Lake College.

During his tenure, the college has achieved a remarkable 32% increase in enrollment since Spring 2023, demonstrated success in narrowing the equity gap for disproportionately impacted student populations, and cultivated strong partnerships with business and community stakeholders as part of enhanced fundraising efforts, securing a record-breaking $2.5 million donation from Sutter Health. Under his guidance, the completion of the $64.9 million science building and the initiation of construction on the Rancho Cordova Center healthcare hub and El Dorado Center's instructional vineyard have further enriched the educational landscape at Folsom Lake College. Dr. Pimentel has fostered collaborations with K-12 districts to expand dual enrollment opportunities, exemplified by the establishment of the Mountainside Middle College High School at FLC's El Dorado Center.

Dr. Pimentel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from California State University, Sacramento, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the same institution, and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from the University of California, Davis. Beyond his contributions to higher education, he has been actively engaged in the community, having served on the Woodland City Council and as Mayor of Woodland. Recognized as one of Sacramento Bee's Top 25 Latino Change Makers in 2023, Dr. Pimentel's dedication to education and community service continues to make a lasting impact.
