ABYZ News Links: "ABYZ News Links is a portal to online news sources from around the world. It is primarily composed of newspapers but also includes many broadcast stations, internet services, magazines, and press agencies. Please note that ABYZ News Links does not contain actual news content but only links to other news sources."

Alternative Press Index: "For more than a quarter of a century, the Alternative Press Index has been recognized as a leading guide to the alternative press in the United States and around the world." Additional links to 425+ alternative viewpoints available by name or subject.

Chronicling America: "This site allows you to search and read newspaper pages from 1900-1910 and find information about American newspapers published between 1690-present. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress as part of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP)."

Directory of Open Access Journals: "This service covers free, full-text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. This site aims to cover all subjects and languages. There are over 700 journals in the directory." Search by title or subject.

Find Articles, a LookSmart Service: A full-text archive of published articles that are available free of charge.  Constantly updated, it contains articles dating back to 1998 from more than 300 magazines and journals.  This content is available through a partnership between LookSmart, which provides the search infrastructure, and the Gale Group, which provides the published editorial content.

1st Headlines: Topical index to major news headlines from around the world.

Google News: "Google News is a computer-generated news site that aggregates headlines from more than 4,500 English-language news sources worldwide, groups similar stories together and displays them according to each reader's personalized interests. Google News offers links to several articles on every story, so you can first decide what subject interests you and then select which publishers' accounts of each story you'd like to read."

Home Town Free Press: Links to over 5,000 local news sites worldwide, organized by city name.

New America Media: "New America Media is the country's first and largest national collaboration of ethnic news organizations. News and Newspapers Online: "The University Libraries of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro have provided hundreds of news resources from around the world in a variety of languages that offer free access to current, general-interest, full-text news."

NewsDirectory - A Guide to Media: A world-wide guide to newspapers and popular magazines.

NewsLink: NewsLink allows you to search news articles using Congoo. "Congoo's news service is a uniquely valuable tool for staying current on anything. Congoo News is the most comprehensive news source on the Web aggregating stories from over 25,000 free and subscription content sources. Congoo's technology organizes articles into stories and stories into subjects. Congoo's news channels focus on providing real time information across hundreds of broad and niche subjects with a special focus on industry news and information."

Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room: The Library of Congress is providing an index to major newspaper webistes, current news services and other hybrid list of periodicals vis search engines available throughout the web.

News Archives on the Web: Provides links to United States news archives available on the Web. Papers are arranged by state, links to the newspaper home pages or the "search archives" page. Provides the dates of the archive, along with the cost to retrieve the full text of articles. Unless noted, searching is free. Charges may apply to retrieve stories. Archives of non-US newspaper archives are also available. Provides newspapers in the following states and categories: Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Non Daily.

Vanderbilt Television News Archive: "The Television News Archive collection at Vanderbilt University is the world's most extensive and complete archive of television news. The collection holds more than 30,000 individual network evening news broadcasts from the major U.S. national broadcast networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN, and more than 9,000 hours of special news-related programming including ABC's Nightline since 1989. These special reports and periodic news broadcasts cover presidential conferences and political campaign coverage, and national and international events such as the Watergate hearings, the plight of American hostages in Iran, the Persian Gulf war, and the terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001."

Mountain Democrat: This site provides online access to the local Placerville newspaper, edited by Michael E. Raffety. Full-text access is available for only a few selected articles within the last 14 days, covering El Dorado County. In additon, the website archive offers selected article coverage within the last ten years on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Observer UK: "The Guardian newspaper, of which Guardian Unlimited is its online presence, was founded in 1821 and has a long history of editorial and political independence."
