    Animal Diseases@MedlinePlus: "Animal diseases that people can catch are called zoonoses. About 75 percent of the new diseases affecting humans in the past decade can be traced to animals or animal products. MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations."

     

    Bubl Link Veterinary Science: BUBL Information Service at the Centre for Digital Library Research provides a broad selection of links in Animal Health and Veterinary Medicine.

     

    Diseases and Disorders: The Karolinska Institute of Sweden has prepared a very comprehensive list of links pertaining to Animal Diseases and Disorders. This guide contains links to diseases of Amphibians, Insectivores, Invertebrates, Rodents, Fishes, Birds, Reptiles, Swine and Cattle, including Zoonoses.

     

    DMOZ Open Directory Project: "The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a vast, global community of volunteer editors. Multiple links are available through topic access."

     

    Pet Health Topics: This site provides information on preventative health care in companion animals. The categories give basic information on common problems and diseases in domestic animals. Washington State University does not want this information to be used as a substitute for Veterinary Care, therefore the site is organized by pet health topics that offer basic medical care only.

     

    UC Davis Veterinary Medicine: The Faculty of U. C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine have developed a list of useful websites for Veterinary Medicine students.

     

    Veterinary Anatomy: "This is an umbrella site that provides access to individual courseware web sites and other teaching resources (lecture notes, course syllabi, schedules, etc.) generally in PDF format. The PDF files and most of the courseware web sites can be downloaded and viewed off-line. Subject matter is primarily carnivore anatomy, developmental anatomy and veterinary neurobiology, including PDF versions of anatomy, embryology, and neurobiology."

     

    Virtual Factbook for Veterinarians: The TiHo Hannover Library in Germany is offering access to the Internet for professional veterinarians by developing a veterinary search engine, a subject guide and free searches to bibliographic databases.

    American Veterinary Medical Association: "The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), established in 1863, is a not-for-profit association representing more than 76,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services. Structured to work for its members, the AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the profession."


    College of Veterinary Medicine: "Experts from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign issue a new Pet Column most weeks; these columns are provided as a source of authoritative general information for animal owners. Specific questions about care for your pet should be directed to your local veterinarian; the College of Veterinary Medicine is unable to dispense medical advice via the Internet."

     

    Healthy Pet: AAHA is an organization that accredits animal hospitals throughout the U.S. & Canada. AAHA-accredited hospitals adhere to the highest-quality standards available. The site provides high-quality standards for healthy pet care.

     

    International Veterinary Information Service: This website provides veterinarians, veterinary students, and animal health professionals free access to the largest veterinary library on the Internet.

     

    Mar Vista Animal Medical Center: This veterinary center offers the finest pet care education services in the practice of veterinary surgery, pharmacy advice and vaccine updates for domestic animals. This site also includes a pet web library and an online monthly newsletter.

     

    Merck Veterinary Manual: Full text availability to selected chapters within this outstanding reference work on veterinary medicine.

     

    Open Veterinary Science Journal: "The peer-reviewed Open Veterinary Science Journal, is an Open Access online journal, which publishes free, full-text research articles, reviews, and letters in all areas of experimental and clinical research in veterinary science and medicine."

    Pet Center: The Internet Animal Hospital, Dog Cat Health Care contains articles written and photographed by veterinarians in actual animal hospital settings.

     

    South Dakota Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory: "This is a reference laboratory for animal health professionals and state/federal regulatory officials. As a reference laboratory, it provides the precise detailed animal disease information that is needed for those in charge of managing, treating and preventing diseases in animals."
