Pre-requisites:

It is extremely important that everyone enforces pre-requisites: To satisfy the prerequisite a student must either place into the class or an equivalent class via an assessment exam (not ARC self placement), or have passed the prerequisite course or its equivalent (no high school transcripts other than Geometry are considered equivalent).  Example 1: A student passes pre-algebra with a C or better at ABC college in Nevada, if the course description is similar to our math 30 then they have met the prerequisite for math 100. Example 2: A student assess into Algebra at ABC college in Washington, if course description is similar to our then they have met prerequisite for math 100.  Informally the student can *show you their transcripts/assessment, if you deem they have met prerequisite than let them know their prerequisite has been met, otherwise have the student go through the formal process of filling out and submitting a challenge packet (this would take place only if you do not believe what they have shown you satisfies the condition(s) above) which can be found at                        Also a list of courses that have already been deemed equivalent can be found at www.flc.losrios.edu/~flcmath. (it is old and limited). * A student does not have to show the instructor of record their transcripts or assessment, if they choose not to they must go through the formal process. Student must turn in challenge packet to Math Department Chair during the first week of school.
